“John and Zelda Metivier of Grand Blanc celebrated their 59th anniversary. Metivier married Zelda Boyle on Jan. 8, 1949. The couple owned and operated Metivier’s Flowers on Fenton Road for seven years. John retired from security at American North Truck Platforms in 1989. She worked at Citizens Bank, in downtown Flint for 12 years, retiring in 1989. They have six children: Mike of Cornelius, N.C.; Paul of Cary, N.C.; Marya of Raleigh, N.C.; Joe of Linden; Dough of Sparta; and Ellen of Mt. Morris. One daughter, Alice Ann, is deceased. There are 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.”
